APPEARANCE Sansa is tall for a woman and slender. She has bright red hair, usually worn loose, and fair skin.

CLOTHING Sansa dresses in simple dresses that are vaguely medieval in cut and style. She favors greys and blacks. As she spends more time in Thorne, she will likely make herself new clothing and may branch out into wearing colors again.

Being a queen is tiresome business, especially when all of her bannermen seem to want something different and are at one another's throats for one thing or another. Politicking is something she's good at, yes, but Sansa doesn't want to spend every waking hour doing it. Once she dismisses them all, however, she gives them a promise that she'll make a tour and visit every court individually to hear their concerns. This is a fine idea in theory but in practice will be an undertaking that will tap into every resource she has.

She has guards, of course, but she'd rejected the traditional hierarchy of seven sworn guards who take no wives and have no children and decided to just use trusted men from her garrison. She doesn't particularly want them to leave the castle, considering they're the best she has, so she'll have to hire someone from outside to accompany her instead. That will be risky, certainly, but she trusts her own judgment.

There'd been a rumor of a witcher who had drifted into her borders and she thinks he'll make a perfect bodyguard for such a long trip so she sends a messenger to go find him and bring him to court. She makes sure her message doesn't make it mandatory, only optional, and her messenger returns to say he'd found the man but he'd chosen to make a decision on his own. Very well. There's no sense in hurrying and she'll give him a fortnight to decide whether or not he'll turn up at court.

It's a cold day when someone announces a visitor to her and she hopes it is the man she'd sought, even if he doesn't agree to her proposal. She tells her servants to show him to the chamber she's been using to read correspondence in because it's far more casual than sitting on a throne to receive someone and leaves the door open for him to come in.

The combined might of the Northern army and the sellswords rallied behind Daemon Storm (Baratheon now, in truth, as who is going to let a king have a bastard name?) had easily trumped the Lannister and Tyrell forces, the latter of which had turned toward the end of the battle when they knew they'd lost. The North won its independence by backing Daemon's claim and Stannis had withdrawn to Gods known where with his army and his Red Priestess. Sansa had no idea and she had the sneaking suspicion that everyone was fairly relieved about it; he would have been a poor king.

Daemon, however, seems a fine king thus far and he is enough of a swordsman and a charmer that every house rallies for him. He's what Robert had been when he was younger, the people whisper, and is popular in that regard. Sansa herself has a more or less positive opinion of him - he'd liberated her from the Lannisters and while he'd taken the Red Keep for himself, there'd been no raping of the women there and it seemed his men were sticking by that order. They weren't out to hurt the people of King's Landing and after years of Lannister rule, it seems it's turning for the better.

For Sansa's part, the alliance to make Robb King in the North had come with the price of Sansa's betrothal to Daemon. He's no Joffrey, she thinks and he's not Tyrion Lannister. The latter had been kind to her, though, and she'd been quick to vouch for him when the Lannisters were put to the sword. Still, the marriage hadn't been binding because it hadn't been consummated and Tyrion graciously hadn't pressed the issue, wanting Sansa free to make her own choices. She's not free, exactly, but the man she's betrothed to doesn't seem to be a bad one even if he's rough around the edges.

Sansa had been moved to nicer rooms since the coup and they're close to the offices where the King and the Hand work on the business of the day. She has none, really, but her curiosity does cause her to linger around when she ought to be making a wedding dress or walking in the Godswood or doing anything with her newfound freedom. She slips into the king's office and gives him a quick curtsy.

"Robb's with his men and I'm tired of sewing. Is the business of running this place harder than winning it, Your Grace?"

I'm open to M/F and F/F pairings for her but Ramsay and Joffrey are no-gos for the obvious reasons. Age gaps are not an issue for her since it's pretty much given (and happened to her already) that teenage girls marry old men and at the end of the series she's around 20-21 years old. Given the fact that she's been a political hostage and through two wars + torture, Sansa is very, very mature for her age and not what an average woman of her age would be. ( Sansa's life has only become worse since her betrothal with Joffrey has been broken and he's now betrothed to Margaery Tyrell. Now she's just a traitor's get and the target of his worst tempers and she doesn't know how much more she can take. Joffrey has Ser Boros and Ser Meryn beat her almost daily and he threatens to take her as his mistress even as he's betrothed to someone else; he's yet to do it but Sansa lives in fear of it regardless.

Joffrey decides to hold a tournament in celebration of his upcoming wedding and forces the Kingsguard to enter along with everyone else. Sandor Clegane takes the joust, unhorsing his own brother and killing him on the spot. The maester declares it an accident, even if it is suspicious, and Clegane is entitled to any prize he wants. He doesn't name a queen of love and beauty, instead just tossing the flowers vaguely Sansa's way, and Joffrey demands he take his prize. )

Come on, Hound, surely there's something you want. Do you want the Stark girl? Lady Sansa is bruised and beaten but nobody's fucked her yet. You could fuck her as much as you want.

( Going into heat is not something Sansa had planned for and, honestly, she'd not wanted this to happen until the North was safe, Cersei was gone and she had the time to barricade herself inside the lord's chambers of Winterfell and not be disturbed until she emerged from it. She has no such luxury now, though, as she must deal with the problem of Jaime Lannister showing up at Winterfell's gates declaring he'll fight for them but with no Lannister army in tow.

Daenerys begins with how he'd slayed her father, how the Lannisters had killed her family. Sansa can understand that anger, she can, but the delicious scent rolling off the kingslayer just now is clouding her judgement. He gives no excuses for what he's done and says he did them for his family and would do so again. Brienne speaks for him, says that they both have vowed to protect House Stark and Sansa and Arya in particular, on the word of her lady mother. It's enough for Sansa - she trusts Brienne implicitly and Jaime's scent makes her feel safe, somehow. He smells of clean hay, of leather and something that reminds her of sunlight, as useless as that is to describe a scent.

She abruptly gets up and leaves once the trial is adjourned and starts heading toward her chambers, only to turn and realize she's been followed. Oh. It's Ser Jaime. )

Forgive me, I'm not feeling very well. Was there something else you wanted to say? You could escort me back to my chambers if you wanted to talk.

( Sansa hasn't said anything for fear that the babe isn't true but she's confirmed it with Grand Maester Pycelle and there's no denying it - she is carrying Tyrion's child. She is elated because if she bears a son, she and Tyrion will be allowed to go North and hold Winterfell in trust for their son and she'll be home once more.

Tyrion, too, has been kind to her. He's bought her jewels and he had a dressmaker come in and measure her for new gowns as all of hers were too short and too small. She regrets he'll have to do it all over again as she's gotten with child so quickly but perhaps she can let some of her new gowns out and make them last a bit longer before she has to buy all new. She knows she ought to tell him after he's come back from Small Council and had a chance to relax but she jumps upon him as soon as he gets to his solar; his face is drawn and pinched the way it always is and she hopes he'll be pleased about this. )

Oh, Tyrion, I very nearly dragged you from the council this afternoon because I couldn't wait for you to get back. Do you have time to talk to me or is there pressing business to still attend to?

( Sansa hadn't wanted to come to King's Landing but her brother, Ned, had insisted upon it. He's the Hand of the King now for Robert Baratheon and he wanted Sansa to know something of court and to possibly make a marriage someday so he wanted her by his side. Sansa feels it's because he's lost Lyanna and Brandon and he wants his remaining sister close to him so he can keep her safe; Sansa isn't inclined to be away from Ned either.

With Benjen to be the Stark in Winterfell, the trip south had been planned and made, efficient enough by boat from White Harbor. Sansa knows it will be a long time before she returns to Winterfell, if ever, and she's had to prepare herself to see the back of her home and her life. This is her new life now. She's a lady-in-waiting to the new queen, Cersei, and while it is not a taxing job it does require her to be visible and at the beck and call of the queen.

She also spends a lot of time with the Kingsguard, especially Cersei's brother Jaime. He's of an age with Sansa and kind, if a bit withdrawn. She knows that he'd killed the Mad King and she hates when people call him the Kingslayer. He'd only done his duty, what needed to be done. After a particularly trying day at court, she finds him after Cersei dismisses her for the day and gives him a soft smile. )

I'm sorry they treat you that way, Ser Jaime. For what it's worth, I don't think you did anything wrong. You...the Targaryens killed my family. I lost my father, my brother and my sister because of them. I've never properly thanked you for what you've done for House Stark.
